OUR PROGRAMS

Our Club members, along with the volunteer assistance of Visiting Rotarians and through our receipt of funding from individuals as well as Rotary Clubs in Canada and the United States – by donation and through district and Rotary International Grants – are able to improve and enhance the lives and well-being of many people in Puerto Vallarta and its surrounding communities.

Since its inception, the Rotary Club Puerto Vallarta Sur has been very involved in the local community undertaking many projects and operating many on-going programs.

Additional Projects Currently Supported by the Rotary Club Puerto Vallarta Sur:

PROGRAM FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH CANCER – this program currently supports 20 children from very poor families who are undergoing treatment for cancer. The program assists with providing medication and nutrition for the children as they have specialised dietary needs when undergoing various treatments. Also, many children do not have a bed to sleep in, so mattresses are purchased. Each month, the families of these children receive a food hamper with various non-perishable items and fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, scholarships are provided to children who are well enough to attend school while undergoing cancer treatment.

PRESCRIPTION EYEGLASSES PROGRAM – funds are collected in funnels located at shopping centres around Puerto Vallarta for the purcahse of prescription glasses for children of families with limited financial resources. Each year between 300 and 400 pair of prescription glasses are given.

PITILLAL “BUSCA UN AMIGO” PROGRAM – This program benefits the rehabilitation, therapy and care for persons with disabilities and their families who do not otherwise have the financial means to access such programs.

CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE “CENTRO DE INTEGRACION JUVENIL” – Located in Colonia Mojoneras. A facility with various programs to provide assistance to At-Risk Youth.

FIRE FIGHTERS PROGRAM – Delivery of equipment and vehicles to the Municipal Fire Department.

VOLCANES SEWING SCHOOL – Provides women of the community of Volcanes with seamstress training to allow them to gain skills to achieve economic independence for the benefit of their families.
